Espresso makes beautifully slim portable monitors and clearly targets the MacBook design crowd. But that look comes with a hefty price tag. In this article, we show you when the portable monitors from Remodius, particularly the SOTSU FlipAction series, are a better Espresso Display alternative: 4K sharpness, 120Hz, and Dutch warranty at a fairer price.
What Espresso does well
- Ultra-thin and premium finish: aluminum housing, looks high-end.
- Touchscreen and stylus support on the Pro models.
- 4K on the larger models (Espresso 15/17 Pro).
- Single USB-C cable for video and power.
Why people look for an alternative
- Price. Espresso sits at the top of the market; you pay a premium for 4K.
- Availability & service in the Netherlands. Delivery and warranty often run through international channels.
- Accessories sold separately. A stand, case, and cables are often purchased separately.
