Travel plug Bahrain

Are you going to Bahrain for a holiday, business trip or to visit family? Then it's smart to check in advance whether your chargers and plugs will work properly there. In Bahrain, sockets of type G are used. The standard voltage is 230 volts and the frequency is 50 Hz. For many modern chargers for phones, laptops and cameras this is usually not a problem, as long as the adapter states 100-240V and 50/60Hz.

Which travel plug do you need in Bahrain?

In Bahrain you'll encounter sockets of type G. That's the same plug type that is also widely used in the United Kingdom. Dutch and Belgian plugs of type C and F therefore usually don't fit directly into the socket.

That's why for Bahrain you'll usually need a travel adapter or universal travel plug.

Do you need a universal travel plug in Bahrain?

For travellers from the Netherlands and Belgium the answer is usually yes. Because Bahrain uses type G and the Netherlands mainly uses type C and F, standard European plugs generally don't fit there without an adapter. A universal travel plug is therefore the simplest solution if you want to charge your phone, laptop or other devices without any hassle.

This is especially handy if you:

  • are bringing multiple devices
  • are also visiting other countries in the region
  • don't want to depend on adapters on location
  • want one fixed solution for multiple trips

Mains voltage and voltage in Bahrain

In Bahrain the mains voltage is 230V at 50 Hz. In terms of voltage that's the same as in the Netherlands, but the plug shape is different. For modern chargers with 100-240V and 50/60Hz this is usually not a problem. Always check the label on your adapter or charger before departure. If it states 100-240V, you usually don't need a voltage converter, just a suitable travel adapter.

If you use an older device that is only suitable for one fixed voltage, then in addition to an adapter you may also need a voltage converter. Electrical Safety First advises always checking the device's label first.

Which devices do you want to bring to Bahrain?

Anyone travelling to Bahrain usually brings more than just a phone charger. Think of a laptop, e-reader, camera, smartwatch charger, power bank or other travel accessories. Then it's nice to have one reliable solution with you so you can get going right away.

A good travel plug for Bahrain is especially handy for:

  • smartphones and tablets
  • laptops and e-readers
  • cameras and battery chargers
  • power banks and small travel gadgets

Handy if you combine Bahrain with other destinations

Bahrain is regularly combined with other destinations in the Middle East. If you travel further, it's smart to also look at the power supply in the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Turkey or the United Kingdom if you transfer or travel onwards there. For multiple destinations, one good universal travel plug is often the easiest solution.
