Which sockets do they use in China?

In China sockets of type A, C and I occur. The mains voltage is 220 V and the frequency is 50 Hz.

Do you need a travel plug in China?

Yes, usually you do. In the Netherlands you use plugs type C and F. Type C sometimes fits in China (if you come across a type C socket), but type A and type I occur a lot and your Dutch plugs do not fit in those. With a (universal) travel plug you avoid hassle in hotels, at airports and in cafes.

Do you need a voltage converter?

No. The mains voltage in China is 220 V (NL is 230 V), so a converter is not needed. To be sure, check the label on your charger: if it states “INPUT: 100–240V, 50/60Hz”, you are fine anyway.

Still handy to have a universal travel plug

For China a universal travel plug is actually the safest choice, because you do not know in advance which socket type you will come across. And if you are buying a universal travel plug anyway, then get a good one straight away: with a Remodius universal travel plug you can manage in many more countries than just China, handy for your next trip.
