Which sockets do they use in Sri Lanka?

In Sri Lanka several socket types occur, mainly type D and type G. The mains voltage is 230 V and the frequency is 50 Hz.

Do you need a travel adapter in Sri Lanka?

Yes. Dutch type C and F plugs do not fit well into type D or G sockets. Sometimes type C still works in certain outlets, but you cannot rely on that. With a universal travel adapter you can be sure you can charge your devices.

Do you need a voltage converter?

No. Sri Lanka uses 230 V and 50 Hz, the same as the Netherlands. A voltage converter is therefore not needed. To be safe, check the label on your charger or device. If it says “INPUT: 100–240V, 50/60Hz”, it works worldwide.

Still handy to have a universal travel adapter

For Sri Lanka a universal travel adapter is strongly recommended, because you do not know in advance which socket type you will get. If you choose a good universal travel adapter straight away, you are also prepared for future trips. With a Remodius universal travel adapter you can get by in many more countries than just Sri Lanka.
