Travelling to India? Then you need a travel adapter for India to be able to use your devices safely. In India, type C, D and M sockets are used. The mains voltage is 230 volts at 50 Hz, the same as in the Netherlands. That means you do not need a voltage converter, but you do need the right adapter to connect your devices without risk, from your phone and laptop to your shaver or camera.

Do I need a travel adapter in India?

Yes. In India, sockets of type C, D and M are used. Dutch plugs (type C and F) sometimes fit, but often not well or not at all. A travel adapter is therefore strongly recommended.

Which plugs and sockets are used in India?

India mainly uses type D and type M, and in some hotels also type C. Type D and M have three round pins and differ from European sockets.
