Do you need a travel adapter in Europe?

In many European countries, Dutch plugs (type C and F) fit directly into the socket. But not everywhere. A number of popular destinations use different sockets, which makes a travel adapter necessary.

Do I need a travel adapter in Europe?

Usually not if you come from the Netherlands. In many European countries the same plugs are used as in the Netherlands. There are, however, exceptions, such as the United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland and Malta, where other plug types are used.

Which plugs and sockets are used in Europe?

In most European countries type C and type F are used. These are the same plugs as in the Netherlands. In some countries deviating types occur, such as type G in the United Kingdom and type J in Switzerland.

Do I need a voltage converter in Europe?

No. The mains voltage in virtually all of Europe is 230 volts and 50 Hz, equal to the Netherlands. You therefore don't need a voltage converter for European devices.
