Travel plug Croatia

Travelling to Croatia? Then the good news is that Dutch plugs simply fit there. Croatia uses type C and F sockets, with 230 volts and 50 Hz. That is the same as in the Netherlands. So in most cases you do not need a travel plug or a converter.

Do you need a travel plug in Croatia?

For travellers from the Netherlands, usually not. In Croatia, type C and F plugs and sockets are used, and those are the same types as in the Netherlands. As a result, you can normally connect your phone charger, laptop, hairdryer or other standard equipment directly.

That makes Croatia an easy destination when it comes to power and charging. So in most cases you don't have to bring a separate adapter.

Which plugs are used in Croatia?

Croatia uses plug types C and F. The mains voltage is also 230 volts and the frequency is 50 Hz. That fully matches what you are used to in the Netherlands.

As a result, most Dutch devices can be used without any adjustments. This applies to virtually all modern chargers, laptops, cameras and other travel equipment.

Do you need a converter in Croatia?

No, in most cases not. Because Croatia uses the same voltage and frequency as the Netherlands, your devices normally just work there as they do at home.

To be safe, always check the label on your device or charger. If it says 100-240V and 50/60Hz, you are almost always fine. For Dutch travellers, that will usually not be a problem with modern electronics.

Why bring a universal travel adapter anyway?

Even though you usually don't need a travel plug for Croatia itself, a universal travel adapter can still be handy if you travel more often or visit several countries during the same holiday. Especially if you also travel outside Croatia, one universal solution is often more practical than separate adapters per destination.

What to keep in mind when travelling to Croatia?

For Croatia you usually don't have to worry about plugs or voltage. It is wise, though, to consider how many devices you bring and whether you have enough charging points. If you travel with several phones, a tablet, camera or smartwatch, a compact universal travel adapter with USB ports can still be handy on the road or in the hotel room.

Who is this page useful for?

This information is useful for holidaymakers, campers, road trippers, city trippers and business travellers going to Croatia. Whether you visit Dubrovnik, Split, Zagreb or the Croatian islands, you want to know in advance whether you can use your devices without hassle.

Buy a travel plug for Croatia or not?

As a Dutch traveller you usually don't have to buy a separate travel plug for Croatia. Your Dutch plugs simply fit and the power supply is the same as at home. If you travel often or want to be prepared for other destinations too, a universal adapter is a smart choice after all.
