Travelling to Ireland? Then you need a travel adapter for Ireland. In Ireland they use socket type G. Dutch plugs (type C and F) do not fit in this. The mains voltage is the same though (230V / 50Hz), so a voltage converter is usually not needed, only an adapter.

Why do you need a travel adapter in Ireland?

In Ireland, plug type G is used. This is the same plug as in the United Kingdom. You recognise it by three rectangular pins and a larger housing than the standard European plug.

The Netherlands uses type C and F. These do not fit in an Irish socket. Without a travel adapter you therefore cannot:

  • Charge your phone
  • Use your laptop
  • Connect a hairdryer or styling device
  • Use any electrical travel equipment

A good travel adapter solves this problem immediately.

Do you need a voltage converter?

No, in virtually all cases not.

The mains voltage in Ireland is 230 volts at 50 Hz, exactly the same as in the Netherlands. Your devices are therefore already suitable for this.

To be safe, check the label of your charger or device. If it states:

INPUT: 100-240V ~ 50/60Hz

Then you can use it worldwide and you only need a travel adapter.
