Travel plug Montenegro 🇲🇪

Traveling to Montenegro? Good news: you do not need a travel adapter for Montenegro. The Balkan country uses the same plug types as the Netherlands (C and F) with identical mains voltage. So you can plug your chargers and devices directly into the socket without an adapter.

Do you need a travel adapter for Montenegro?

No, in virtually all cases not.

Montenegro uses the same plug types as the Netherlands:

  • Type C: two round pins, unearthed. The same type as in the Netherlands.
  • Type F: two round pins with earth clips on the side, also called Schuko. The same type as in the Netherlands and Germany.

Your Dutch chargers, phone chargers, laptop adapters and other devices fit directly into the Montenegrin sockets. So you do not need to bring a travel adapter.

Which type of socket does Montenegro have?

Montenegro uses two plug types, both identical to those in the Netherlands:

  • Type C: two round pins, unearthed. The standard "Euro" plug, also known from the Netherlands and almost all of continental Europe
  • Type F: two round pins with earth strips on the side. The same type as in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria and the rest of the Balkans

There are no regional differences within Montenegro. Whether you stay in the capital Podgorica, in the coastal town of Kotor, in Budva or in Durmitor National Park, you will find the same sockets everywhere.

When is a universal adapter still handy in Montenegro?

Although a travel adapter for Montenegro is not needed, a universal adapter can still be useful in a number of cases:

  • you make a Balkan tour through Albania, Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia which partly use other sockets
  • you have a shortage of sockets in your accommodation and want a compact solution
  • you want extra USB and USB-C ports to charge several devices at once
  • you travel regularly and want one universal solution for all destinations

The Remodius Universal Travel Adapter works in Montenegro and in 220+ other countries, with multiple USB ports so you can charge your phone, laptop and camera at the same time.

Power and voltage in Montenegro

The power supply in Montenegro is identical to that in the Netherlands.

  • Voltage: 230 volts
  • Frequency: 50 Hz
  • Compatible with Dutch appliances: yes

So you do not need a voltage converter. Your phone, laptop, camera and other devices work without problems.

The power supply in Montenegro is generally stable, including in tourist towns such as Kotor and Budva. In remote mountain areas or national parks, power outages can occasionally occur. A power bank is therefore a sensible addition if you are going to do a lot of outdoor activities.

Buying a travel adapter for Montenegro

Do you want to be optimally prepared for your trip and not be caught by surprise? Although a travel adapter for Montenegro is not needed, a universal adapter is a smart investment if you travel more often.

Are you travelling on after Montenegro, for example to Croatia (type C and F, no issue), Albania (type C and F, no issue) or Italy (type C, F and L)? Then most countries are also compatible with your Dutch plugs. Are you planning to travel further in the Balkans or towards the UK? Then the Remodius Universal Travel Adapter comes in handy, in 220+ countries.
