Do you need a travel adapter for Norway?

No, in most cases you don't.

Norway uses type C and F power outlets, exactly the same as in the Netherlands. Your Dutch plugs simply fit into the outlet, without an adapter. The mains voltage is also the same (230 volts, 50 Hz), so you don't need a voltage converter either.

A travel adapter for Norway is therefore only useful when you:

  • bring a plug from another continent (for example an American charger)
  • make a round trip that also includes other countries
  • want to invest in advance in a world adapter for future trips
  • want extra USB and USB-C ports to charge several devices at once

Which type of power outlet does Norway have?

Norway uses two plug types, both identical to the Netherlands:

  • Type C: the familiar European flat plug with two round pins, without earthing
  • Type F: the Schuko plug with two round pins and earthing clips on the sides

These types are standard throughout Norway, from Oslo and Bergen to remote cabins in the fjords or the far north. There are no regional differences.

When is a world adapter still handy in Norway?

Although you don't need an adapter for Norway itself, a world adapter can still be useful in a few situations.

Are you combining Norway with another continent? For example a flight via the US or a stopover in the UK (type G), then you will encounter different outlets along the way. A world adapter covers all these types in one device.

Do you have an American or Asian charger? Then it won't fit into a Norwegian outlet without an adapter. In that case a travel adapter converts your foreign plug to the European format.

Do you want to charge several devices at once? Besides the universal outlet, the Remodius World Adapter also has USB-A and USB-C ports, so you can charge your phone, laptop, earbuds and power bank at the same time, handy in a hotel room with only one outlet.

Power and voltage in Norway

The power supply in Norway is identical to that in the Netherlands.

  • Voltage: 230 volts
  • Frequency: 50 Hz
  • Compatible with Dutch devices: yes

So you don't need a voltage converter. All your Dutch devices, such as phone, laptop, camera, hairdryer and shaver, work without any problems.

Buy a travel adapter for Norway

For a trip to Norway itself you don't need to buy a travel adapter. But if you travel more often, a world adapter is an investment that quickly pays for itself. You have one for all destinations, with USB ports for several devices and compact enough for your hand luggage.

Traveling on from Norway to, for example, the UK, the US, Asia or Australia? Then the Remodius World Adapter works there too, in 220+ countries.
