Travel plug Serbia 🇷🇸

Travelling to Serbia? Then we have good news: you almost never need a travel adapter for Serbia. Serbia uses the same sockets as the Netherlands (type C and F), with the same mains voltage. Your Dutch charger, phone and laptop simply plug right in.

Do you need a travel adapter for Serbia?

No, in most cases not.

Serbia uses type C and F sockets, exactly the same as in the Netherlands. Your Dutch plugs simply fit into the socket, without an adapter. The mains voltage is also the same (230 volts, 50 Hz), so you do not need a voltage converter either.

A travel adapter for Serbia is therefore only useful when you:

  • bring a plug from another part of the world (for example an American charger)
  • take a round trip during which you also visit other countries
  • invest in advance in a universal travel adapter for future trips
  • want extra USB and USB-C ports to charge several devices at once

Which socket type does Serbia have?

Serbia uses two plug types, both identical to the Netherlands:

  • Type C: the familiar European flat plug with two round pins, without earthing
  • Type F: the Schuko plug with two round pins and earth clips on the sides

These types are standard throughout Serbia, from Belgrade, Novi Sad and Nis to remote guesthouses in the Serbian mountains or along the Danube. There are no regional differences.

When is a universal travel adapter still handy in Serbia?

Although you do not need an adapter for Serbia itself, a universal travel adapter can still be useful in a few situations.

Are you combining Serbia with a round trip through the Balkans? Neighbouring countries such as Montenegro, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia use similar sockets, but if you also travel towards the UK, Greece or Turkey you come across other types. A universal travel adapter covers all these types in one device.

Do you have an American or Asian charger? Then it does not fit into a Serbian socket without an adapter. In that case a travel adapter converts your foreign plug to the European format.

Do you want to charge several devices at once? In addition to the universal socket, the Remodius Universal Travel Adapter also has USB-A and USB-C ports, so you can charge your phone, laptop, earbuds and power bank at the same time, handy in a hotel room or guesthouse with only one socket.

Power and voltage in Serbia

The power supply in Serbia is identical to that in the Netherlands.

  • Voltage: 230 volts
  • Frequency: 50 Hz
  • Compatible with Dutch appliances: yes

So you do not need a voltage converter. All your Dutch devices, such as phone, laptop, camera, hair dryer and shaver, work without any problems.

Buying a travel adapter for Serbia

For a trip to Serbia itself you do not need to buy a travel adapter. But if you travel more often, a universal travel adapter is an investment that quickly pays for itself. You have one for all destinations, with USB ports for several devices and compact enough for your hand luggage.

Travelling onward from Serbia to, for example, the UK, the US, Asia or Australia? Then the Remodius Universal Travel Adapter works there too, in 220+ countries.
