Travel plug Belarus

Traveling from the Netherlands to Belarus and wondering whether you need a travel adapter? For most travelers the answer is simple: no. In Belarus, type C and type F sockets are used, exactly the types you also find in the Netherlands.

Which sockets are used in Belarus?

In Belarus you'll find:

  • Socket type C (Europlug, 2 round pins, ungrounded)
  • Socket type F (Schuko, 2 round pins + side earth)

This means Dutch plugs usually fit directly:

  • Type C fits in type C and often also in type F.
  • Type F fits in type F.

Conclusion: from the Netherlands you usually don't need a travel adapter.

Voltage & frequency: do you need a converter?

The mains voltage in Belarus is usually given as 230V / 50 Hz (sometimes you'll also see 220V / 50 Hz mentioned, but that difference is small in practice).

For virtually all modern chargers this is no problem. To be safe, check the label on your adapter:

  • Does it say “INPUT: 100–240V, 50/60Hz” → usable worldwide (phone, laptop, camera, etc.).
  • Does it only say 220–240V → also fine in Belarus.

So as a Dutch traveler you almost never need a voltage converter.

When can a universal adapter still be handy?

Even though you don't need an adapter, a universal adapter or travel charger can be handy if you:

  • want to charge multiple devices at once (preferably with USB-C/USB-A),
  • travel often and want one “all-in-one” solution,
  • stay in accommodations with few sockets.
