Which sockets are used in Venezuela?

In Venezuela you'll usually come across:

And in terms of power:

  • Mains voltage: 120 V
  • Frequency: 60 Hz

Do Dutch plugs fit in Venezuela?

No. Dutch plugs type C/F do not fit in type A/B sockets. So you need a travel adapter (EU → US).

Tip: preferably choose an adapter that also handles type B (with earth), so you're more broadly covered.

Do you need a voltage converter in Venezuela?

This is the most important point for Venezuela: often yes, depending on your device.

Venezuela runs on 120V, while the Netherlands uses 230V. Devices that only work on 230V (e.g. some hair dryers, straighteners, kettles) may not work properly on 120V or could even be damaged without a converter/transformer.

Check your device label (quick rule)

  • Does it say “INPUT: 100–240V, 50/60 Hz” → no converter needed, just a travel adapter. (This is almost always the case for phone/laptop chargers.)
  • Does it only say 220–240V → then you usually need a voltage converter for Venezuela.
